Benefits of massage therapy
Massage is no longer available only for the rich. If you've never tried massage, learn about its possible health benefits and what to expect during a massage therapy session. Massage Bliss & Cryo offers medical grade massages at very affordable prices.
What Is Massage Therapy?
The term “massage therapy” includes many techniques, and the type of massage given usually depends on your needs and physical condition.
Massage therapy dates back thousands of years. References to massage appear in ancient writings from China, Japan, India, and Egypt.
In general, massage therapists work on muscle and other soft tissue to help you feel better.
In Swedish massage, the therapist uses long strokes, kneading, deep circular movements, vibration, and tapping.
Sports massage combines techniques of Swedish massage and deep tissue massage to release chronic muscle tension. It’s adapted to the needs of athletes.
Myofascial trigger point therapy focuses on trigger points—areas that are painful when pressed and are associated with pain elsewhere in the body.
Massage Bliss and Cryo can also apply essential oils and essential oil blends for your aromatherapy massages.

What the Science Says About the Effectiveness of Massage
A lot of the scientific research on massage therapy is preliminary or conflicting, but much of the evidence points toward beneficial effects on pain and other symptoms associated with a number of different conditions. Much of the evidence suggests that these effects are short term and that people need to keep getting massages for the benefits to continue.
Researchers have studied the effects of massage for many conditions. Some that they have studied more extensively are the following:
A 2008 research review and 2011 NCCIH-funded clinical trial concluded that massage may be useful for chronic low-back pain. Massage may help with chronic neck pain, a 2009 NCCIH-funded clinical trial reported. Massage may help with pain due to osteoarthritis of the knee, according to a 2012 NCCIH-funded study. Studies suggest that for women in labor, massage provided some pain relief and increased their satisfaction with other forms of pain relief, but the evidence isn’t strong, a 2012 review concluded.
Numerous research reviews and clinical studies have suggested that at least for the short term, massage therapy for cancer patients may reduce pain, promote relaxation, and boost mood. However, the National Cancer Institute urges massage therapists to take specific precautions with cancer patients and avoid massaging:
Open wounds, bruises, or areas with skin breakdown
Directly over the tumor site
Areas with a blood clot in a vein
Sensitive areas following radiation therapy.
A 2010 meta-analysis of 17 clinical trials concluded that massage therapy may help to reduce depression. Brief, twice-weekly yoga and massage sessions for 12 weeks were associated with a decrease in depression, anxiety, and back and leg pain in pregnant women with depression, a 2012 NCCIH-funded clinical trial showed. Also, the women’s babies weighed more than babies born to women who didn’t receive the therapy. However, a 2013 research review concluded that there’s not enough evidence to determine if massage helps pregnant mothers with depression. A 2010 review concluded that massage may help older people relax. For generalized anxiety disorder, massage therapy was no better at reducing symptoms than providing a relaxing environment and deep breathing lessons, according to a small, 2010 NCCIH-supported clinical trial.
A 2010 review concluded that massage therapy may help temporarily reduce pain, fatigue, and other symptoms associated with fibromyalgia, but the evidence is not definitive. The authors noted that it’s important that the massage therapist not cause pain.
Clinical trials on the effects of massage for headaches are preliminary and only somewhat promising.
Massage therapy may help improve the quality of life for people with HIV or AIDS, a 2010 review of four small clinical trials concluded.
Massaging preterm infants using moderate pressure may improve weight gain, a 2010 review suggested. We don’t have enough evidence to know if massage benefits healthy infants who are developing normally, a 2013 review determined.
Researchers have studied massage for the following but it’s still unclear if it helps:
Behavior of children with autism or autism spectrum disorders Immune function in women with breast cancer Anxiety and pain in patients following heart surgery Quality of life and glucose levels in people with diabetes Lung function in children with asthma.
Discuss the pros and cons of massage with your doctor, especially if you are pregnant or you have cancer or unexplained pain. Some forms of massage can leave you feeling a bit sore the next day. But massage shouldn't ordinarily be painful or uncomfortable. If any part of your massage doesn't feel right or is painful, speak up right away. Most serious problems come from too much pressure during massage.
I had a sudden death in our family and was so tight, from crying and woke up with a massive headache. I called Massage Bliss up and they got me in. Sasa made everything right! She even made me some Jasmine tea! I am a massage snot! It better be good! This one was exceptionally great! I called my best friend right after to share with her my new found place! They will not disappoint. The front desk reception to the price to the ambiance! Kudos to all!
Just had a massage and cryotherapy and it was awesome! The staff was friendly, knowledgeable it made me feel very comfortable. First time doing cryotherapy and the administrator was very thorough and explaining the process to me and made it a great experience. I will definitely recommend it to my friends and family.
What a great experience! I was greeted with amazing customer service the second I walked in. And the massage, omg, BEST massage I have ever had. My therapist worked on everything I needed and it felt perfect. I can not wait to go back! Definitely recommend.

Referred her by a friend for sports related injuries and healing. The experience was five star. Great customer service, a friendly atmosphere, and clean facility. Highly recommended and will be coming again.
I have tried different massage places. This one tops them all. The place is clean, service is professional and their membership arrangement is fair. The price is competitive. I will be going back for more.
This place is superbly awesome. I️ purchased the bliss combo for my wife’s bday. She loved it! But we expected that right? But the real measure of awesomeness was when I️ arrived to give my wife her flowers and balloons. The staff had already made two plates with cheesecake and snacks, had a candle for her to celebrate her bday, sang happy bday to her and so much more. That above and beyond from the management to the staff was incredible. Thank you and we will definitely make this our massage destination.
Holy Smokes! I’m PICKY about massages and this may have been the best ever! Tristan was amazing! How nice to have a massage that solved my ailments and be so relaxing! Plus I left with some goodies from the front that are all very reasonably priced! And had to grab a gift card so my hubby could get an 80 min massage! The spa is beautiful and very clean. The whole feel of this establishment is so inviting and the owner is SO nice! I could spend the day there and just might one of these days!! Thank you! What a GEM for our area!!!
Great Experience. Very relaxing ambience and top notch service. Will be back.
My husband and I went here for our one year anniversary to treat our selves and had a great experience. Clean and beautiful facility with friendly and helpful staff. I absolutely loved my Thai massage!
I had such a great experience, I already booked another appointment. Great prices too. It was so nice and the entire staff was so friendly. I had a body wrap, massage and I also did cryo. So relaxing, I can't wait to go back! Highly recommended!!
I had a Normatec treatment and a Thai herbal ball massage ... it was wonderful! So relaxing. Very informative staff. Highly recommend. I’ll be returning, for sure!
I've loved my experience with Massage Bliss and Cryo so far! I've been in 2-3 times, and for starters it smells amazing as soon as you open the door. I asked, and it's their essential oils that they also sell! I picked up a few scents and now my house feels just as luxurious as this spa. Today I tried the Short n' Sweet facial which I left feeling rejuvenated for the rest of the day. So far I've been offered the $49 intro prices for both my first massage and facial. I think I'm just going to go ahead and sign up for a monthly membership though, because I can't stay away.
So super excited! Cryotherapy, NormaTec, body wraps and scrubs, hot stone massages using essential oils. What more could you want? A glass of wine? Yes! They have that too!
I had an expected death in my family and woke up tight, with a massive headache. Massage Bliss was able to get me an appointment. I am a massage snot! I have high expectations! Sasa did not dissappoint! She even made me some Jasmine tea. I called my best friend right after I left to tell her of my new found place! The receptionist to the price to the ambience was fantastically GREAT! Kudos to all..!
